3 Cheers for Michigan's Craft Beer!

3 Cheers for Michigan’s Craft Beer!

And 3 ways you can celebrate Craft Beer Month

July is Craft Beer Month in Michigan and what better way to kick it off then by giving our great state 3 cheers for its great beer!

Michigan has done it again. We’ve further proved that we are top competitors when it comes to brewing. We’ve shown the nation, once more, that we have mastered a thing or two. And we have embraced our awesomeness in the world of beer. We are proud of what we have created over the years and the fact that we no longer have to choose between watered down, flavorless lagers and dull and lifeless porters.

We are at the top of our game, and we want the world to know it!

And what better way to proudly express this than to humbly accept our newest praise: America's home brewers just declared Bell's BreweryFounders Brewing Co. and the best in the country!

It would be wrong of us to try and keep all of our tasty beer to ourselves, isn’t it better to share the deliciousness with the rest of the world? That’s what many MI brewers believe, with 9 out of 10 of Michigan’s top craft brewers distributing out of state. Have a look at where the top brewers have spread. Even on the road, an ice-cold Michigan beer can always be near by.

So what is it that makes Michigan beer a top competitor? It’s our great water and passionate brewers that help set us apart from other states when it comes to brewing.

Here are 3 fantastic ways you can cheers to Michigan Craft beer this summer.

1: Go on a bit of a Michigan Brewer’s adventure of your own. With over 230 breweries located all over the state, you are bound to find 1 or 2 new ones.

Not sure where to start – use this interactive map to help give you some ideas. Then, get out and go.

2: Find some beer festivals. Don’t think you’re able to swing a beer roadtrip, don’t worry, there’s still a way for you to get to try over 100 Michigan breweries, all in one place. Just head down to the 2017 Summer Beer Festival at Riverside Park in Ypsilanti from July 21-22 where you can sample over 1000 craft brews! Now, we don’t actually recommend you try them all, but surely you’ll be able to find a few new ones that tickle your taste buds. This festival takes place rain or shine and is sure to not disappoint. Good beer, good food, good music, great times!

3: Embrace Craft Beer Month in Michigan by heeding these fabulous tips from Dave Engbers, President of Founders Brewing Company:

  •      Understand the social significance of beer. Beer brings people together, and has long been thought of as the common man’s drink  - a beverage that is always available. Whether sitting at a brewery with some friends, or enjoying some tastings at a festival, or popping a cold one on the water, always appreciate that beer can bring people with very different tastes and preferences together.
  •      Support other members of Michigan’s craft brewing brotherhood. It’s fabulous to have a favorite, go-to beer. Maybe it’s Bell’s Two-Hearted, or Founder’s All Day IPA, but don’t be afraid to step out of your norm and reach for a different 6 pack next time you are at the store.
  •      Seek out hidden gems of the brewery world. With over 200 breweries in Michigan, the odds are in your favor that you’ll find a new one that you love. One with just the right amount of atmosphere and spice to keep you wanting more. When you get there, don’t be afraid to try some new brews. Not sure where to start? That’s why flights are fabulous. Part of the fun is in the search on the journey to find great beer!

Now, get out and find some great beer. Whether it’s a blonde, or an amber, heck, maybe you like stouts in the sunshine, make sure to hold it high and say ‘Cheers’ to Michigan and it’s fantastic craft beer.
